The guest speaker that came to our class was Elyse Mullis she attended here at UNCG with her major being English and the minor being consumer retail. I thought she was a really great speaker..She told us how she was a intern at the greensboro Coliseum but she did not ge the job that she wanted and it was also unpaid. She spent most of her time making coffee and doing other small task that had nothing to do with the job.
The intern that she wa at gave her some experince to the real world..Everything is not easy and then she went on to talk about how a college room mates father put her resumes out there and then he ended up getting a phone call from this company named Westminister fabrics...which of course works with fabrics, threads etc. At first response she may have been unsure but at the same time she had taken the job anyway.
Next she went on to explain the company and what it was all about. There are over twenty designers and they send their drawings, paintings and sketchings. in the process of her job descriptions she also has to do work blogs similiar to the blogs that we do in our class. I thought it was pretty cool how she still had her blogs from this class.
Elyse also told us about the trip that she got to take to Houston, Texas...pretty cool. In Texas there was a quilt market. She also showed us som great pics that she had taken while she was there. Then there is the international quilt market were there are reps and designers in booths. there were a kot of pretty colors in the boths. Overall I think that the speaker was pretty cool I really enjoyed it.
