Sweatshops

When I think about sweatshops I always have this very negative image in my mind. I can see over worked human beings working in poor conditions. I believe this is something that no one should have to endure. I know in some of the third world countries this is all they know and have. The wage in which the people are working for is unacceptable. Ten cent here and fifty cent here is nothing compared to the wages paid here in the United States.

I know when it comes o fashion and clothing..it is cheaper to send it over seas and have the sweatshop. The price is much cheaper and I do agree if I had my own clothing line I would want to get things at a cheaper rate. What is not acceptable to me is the conditions that these human beings are in is nt fair. I wouldnt mind have things made in the sweatshops but there need to be more strict rules and regualtions.

The article that I read talked about the conditions for the children in these sweatshops. One thing that stood out most is when I read this section "The aisles we shop are lined with products made in factories that exploit child labor and fire and harass workers when they try to improve their lives by forming unions"(Stop Sweatshops). http://www.aflcio.org/corporatewatch/stop/
No child should be working at these young ages...it breaks my hearts to know people are living this way. I think when people are in the retail industry the nlock these types of images. This is something no one wants to talk about but this should be talked about..When will it stop and everyone says this is enough.

Milan Fashion week

The Milan fashion week is very creative and unique. It brings a whole nother meaning of an art form. These close are intended not to be wearable...but it is making a statement about fashion and what that it is. When I look at some of the styles it reminds of me me of paintings. The bright colors and silhouettes were amazing. The patterns we very detailed and I think that I enjoyd that the most.

The fashion week from Milan that I watched for Spring 2009 was very crative and different. In comparion to some of Milans other styles the Spring collection seemed wearable, classy, girlie and unique. The accessories were anothter thing that stood out most to me..The very High heel shoes were amazing, and I am pretty sure that they were difficult for the models to walk in...I know the clip we watched in class showed one model falling. The Heels were very deatailed as well.

Overall I really enjoyed watching the Milan fashion week. The selected styles were very artistic and creative. Compared to some of the styles that we seen in the New York fashion week the were very different. I think Milans fashion week was focused more on creativity and the artistic look. It was like a panting coming to life. I really enjoyed Milans fashion week.

My Design

I am not an actually designer myself..but I have many visions when it comes to fashion and what I would like to see in and on a piece of clothing. I like all types of fashion there is not a selective style that I like I like tons of color and fabrics. When I think of clothing for women, I always think of chic, cute, sexy, comfortable and affordable. So if I ad to come up with a piece it would have to be very sexy.

As I was thinking about a design that I would come up with it would have to be this retro, almost masculine but with a feminine twist to it. This design would be made particular for the everyday business women, who wants to go out in style but also have sense of comfort. The price of the three pieces would be very affordable. The ofit would be about $125.

The color for this particular design would have to be black and a HOT HOT pink. It would almost be like a men's suit but fitted to form a women's body. The Pants would be a flare pant, made out of cotton and nylon, they would have a high waist and very form fitting. The Blazer would be black with the hot pink lining it and trims of the hot pick around the color and the cuffs. The shirt under the blazer would be a silk HOT pink top, with a popped collar. The blazer would also be forming fitting as well. Although this product sounds OK.. i wish I could actually draw..it would look much better on paper.
